"Having grown up in Denmark, abstract expressions are in my genes. The Cobra Group was very much in vogue. Their shapes, colours and movements became my way of painting. Later I became influenced by Jackson Pollock and Helene Frankenthaler. The first because of his round organic shapes. The second, I admire, because of the freshness and directness of her colours and the combinations she uses. Living in the South of France, the strong light has given me the possibility to explore the variety of colours from the world around me, and use it in my paintings."
